For those of you who are thinking of using SQL Server for your Access
application's back end, there is a great tool for migrating your tables
(and even your queries if you want) to a SQL Server database.
Here's the Overview:
Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) for Access is a tool for
migrating databases from Microsoft Access to SQL Server 2005, SQL Server
2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2. SSMA 2008 for Access also supports
migrating to SQL Azure.
SSMA for Access converts Access database objects to SQL Server database
objects, loads those objects into SQL Server, and then migrates data
from Access to SQL Server. You can also link Access tables to SQL Server
tables so that you can continue to use your existing Access front-end
applications with SQL Server or SQL Azure.
SSMA for Access supports migration from Access 97 and higher to any
edition of SQL Server.
Version 4.2 is available for download at:

I've used it a couple of times and it works very nicely. Be sure to take
look at the data type mappings. You might want to tweak them a bit.
I have only one gripe. You can't convert a memo field to a SQL text
column. The only thing close is nvarchar(4000) or varchar(8000). If you
have memo fields larger than 8000 characters you will have to move them
to a separate table (Be sure to include the primary key), run the
migration, change the nvarchar(max) type to text within the SQL Server
Management Studio and then refill that column from your separate table
in the old back end.
